Yes you are right, focusing on Christmas is too narrow. What I will do is create a book about Paganism, and add a chapter about how Paganism influences on western holidays. While I am at it, ill include other holydays that have pagan traits. --Zoohouse 00:32, 30 Dec 2004 (UTC)

To reiterate Waxmop's point, while your content is great, Wikibooks is just for textbooks. If this book covered how to celebrate Christmas the Pagan way, it then would be a textbook. But as it is now, it's just information on the subject. If you move your writing over to Wikipedia, more people will read it, as the encyclopedia is higher trafficked. -- user:zanimum

Sure, in some sense, any elaborate explanation of any subject could be considered a textbook. So, under that definition, all material should be included in the wikibooks page. However, in practice, the term textbook has taken on a particular meaning in the wikibooks context. The most popular projects fit any of the following criteria:

  • The work teaches you how to do something, like play a game, or speak a foreign language,
  • The work is an alternative to textbooks used in some mainstream educational curriculum, like US history.

I don't see how your work fits either. Meanwhile your work does look similar to the myriad paganism articles already under development on wikipedia. You're more likely to attract other contributors there than here. Nobody is going to force you to relocate, but you're going against the spirit of the site. --Waxmop 21:54, 19 Jan 2005 (UTC)

This is what Wikipedia had to say about Wikibooks: "The project is a collection of free textbooks, manuals, and other texts, with supporting book-based texts, that is written collaboratively on this website."

Wikibooks was opened so to "bring education to humanity and reduce the costs and other limitations on learning materials." I dont see how I am going against the spirit of the site. --Zoohouse 17:38, 21 Jan 2005 (UTC)

I say this could belong on both Wikipedia and wikibooks, however, this work would do much better on wikipedia due to popularity. It doesn't take much to transwiki anyway. --Dragontamer 00:32, 25 December 2005 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Christmas already has information on these pagan beliefs, including possibly some information not in this book. This book seems too long to move to Wikipedia, so I would keep at Wikibooks. --Kernigh 03:03, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
