I'm trying to learn this stuff, it's interesting to me, but is anybody going to put more lessons on? Also would it be possible to have some kind of pronunciation key so I know how to say this stuff too? --just.blaze 16:12, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

Okay, so. I added accent marks as best I could and I changed out the layout slightly. I'm basing this information off of "Basic Tagalog", a nice book that I have handy. It doesn't have all of the vocabulary, however, so it would be nice if the missing accents would be added. Also, the book states that pô is used for both male and female formal addressing, which conflicts with this page's pô/hô discussion. Could someone look into this and address this? Also, the book's accentuation of "paalam" conflicts with the original accentuation in this and conflicts with the wiki article on Tagalog. Is it paalám na, as my book states, or paálam?
And yes, while a native Tagalog should be making these edits ideally, I would think that it's best that this information be here at all to edit. At any rate, thanks. 68.110.119.132 05:48, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

I'm going to correct some accentuation on this page and the rest of the pages as well. By the way, I'm a native Tagalog speaker. And yes, it should be paálam na, but I will write it as paalam na without any accent marks, because the default accent is on the second to the last syllable (of a multisyllable word, of course). -- Perryv 16:40, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

And may I add, pô/hô is used to address a person (male or female, gender doesn't matter) who is older than the speaker. It's used especially to address the elderly, and to make it even more polite, all second-person singular pronouns are turned into third-person plural pronouns (i.e., ikáw becomes silá, mo becomes nilá, "Anó ang pangalan mo?" (What is your name?) becomes "Anó pó ang pangalan nilá?", etc.). -- Perryv 16:56, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

It would be useful to let us know how to pronounce mga. I happened to remember the Wikipedia Tagalog article that it was an abbreviation; otherwise I would have assumed it's pronounced like it's spelled. -- a learner
