I don't know where to start with this statement. I just want to shake my head and scream here!

The reason why COBOL program made it through the Y2K era intact was due to a herculean effort on the part of thousands of software developers around the world who had to re-learn (or learn for the first time) COBOL, and the Y2K problems were fixed.

That the problems didn't show up was due to the fact that these people actually did their job they got paid to do: Fix Y2K problems.
