Talk:R Programming

I love this idea of "R programming language", and can contribute some things .. however, shouldn't the title/naming structure be more in-line with other WikiBooks? Take for instance "Python Programming", "Programming:Perl", "Programming:Ruby", "MATLAB Programming". Could I suggest moving this to:

  1. "Programming:R"
  2. "R Programming"

I realize I'm not really creative with these titles, but they are in-line with the other programming series. My vote goes to #2 so far .. do I hear any other votes/suggestions? I will move this WikiBook this in the next week if I do not hear any talk here. This move should be done before any significant portions are added. mwtoews 05:41, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

My vote goes for alternative 2 - "R Programming". --Orderud 21:15, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
Great, I'll move it now. — mwtoews 04:37, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Syntax Highlighting

Would it be possible to color in red lines beginning with the ">" symbol in the "pre" environment and in blue the other ones ? PAC (talk) 14:44, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Not sure other than <font color="green"> </font> around everyhing. Try asking at Wikibooks:Reading room/Technical Assistance. - Taxman (talk) 18:03, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

I have seen that for some the Csharp programming language or the LaTeX language have syntaxe highlighting with HTML command <source lang="csharp">. How does this work ? PAC (talk) 16:43, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Book name

By the way, when I saw this book title I thought of it as a book on programming new methods for R, not a book on how to use R. Programming R can have two conflicting meanings, and it might be better to pick a title such as Using and Programming R or Introduction to R, or something like that. That would more clearly reflect that you don't have to program R at all to use it to do lots of analysis. - Taxman (talk) 18:03, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned page

R Programming/Matrix is not linked to by the book. Please link to it, merge it and mark it with {{now merged|destination page}}, or if it is unneeded mark it with {{delete|reasoning}}. -- Adrignola talk contribs 16:58, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

[edit] copy paste

Dear W'Bookers! It is a pleasure to see that somebody reads and uses the texts also from a smaller projects (comared to WP), like Wikibooks and Wikiversity. Especially these two projects are bound from historical perspective as well as common goal of teaching. Now why I am writing this here: I just found out that the text from v:How to use R/Installation was copy pasted to R Programming/Settings, which is nice and entirely OK, even if this is a collaborative project with free content, please indicate the source, or add a (crosswiki) link to indicate its origin. Thank you! --Gbaor (talk) 15:09, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

You're right. That's done PAC2 (talk) 14:42, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
