To whom it may concern: As a uke beginner, I'm very interested in strumming the chords as the accompaniment for a song. However, I have no idea which chord should be properly used when the melody of the song is going on. Referring to some chords used by the musicians in some songs, I can't figure out why. In order to get harmonical result, one of my friends told me just use I, IV and V7 chords for everything. I doubt it is a good way to strum my ukulele. When I use C, Dm, Em, F, G, Am & Bdim for 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7 respectively in a key=C song, I can't distinguish whether they are fit or not. Is it possible for you to tell me some fundamental theories on accompaniment which can be commonly used or acceptable to the songs when one is facing? Otherwise, what I have to do is only following the chords above the musical staff made by the authors or musicians, but no way to create something one likes. Thank you a lot in advance for your kind help. Yours sincerely, Theo Huang

I've read the music theory book in order and when I got to this part I was confused. Maybe it's because it has a bad introduction or because there isn't something between here and the other parts of the book that needs to be there. 24.110.21.111 18:49, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
