Talk:Metabolomics/Nutrition
From Wikibooks, the open-content textbooks collection
TUF-KAT, what's your goal here? Is this information that can be covered in the cookbook's ingredient pages? Gentgeen 07:03, 27 May 2004 (UTC)
- It seems a good idea to collect everything into one page. r3m0t (cont) (talk) 09:05, 27 May 2004 (UTC)
- Yes, I think detailed nutritional data would clutter up the cookbook page. As soon as I figure out the template system, I think I will make a footer that links between e.g. Nutrition:Apple, Gardening:Apple, Cookbook:Apple and Field Guide:Apple. That's my goal anyway. - I think this is it: Nutrition: | Cookbook: | Field Guide: | Gardening: in Template:Food and Template:Food elsewhere. I think. I'm testing it at TestWikipedia. r3m0t (cont) (talk) 20:54, 27 May 2004 (UTC)

- I wonder if people would be amenable to including interwiki links (to wiktionary and wikipedia) in a footer on all the MediaWiki pages on apples. More than you ever wanted to know about apples only one click away... TUF-KAT 04:35, 28 May 2004 (UTC)
- And perhaps a pharmacopeia Wikibook. TUF-KAT 04:35, 28 May 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Merge all nutrition content?
With the creation of Nutrition:Vitamin C I though that I should link it back to Nutrition. I have noticed that there is a duplicate Cookbook:Nutrition section (and Cookbook:Vitamins too), so I added it there too. We really should decide how things should be split between the two, or if they should be merged. (Donovan|Geocachernemesis|Interact) 02:08, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)
I want to discuss the content of the article. The last section states that all humans need in a lifetime is 1 cup of vitamins. I'm hoping for a reference. Also I wanted to ask if the author has considered the following: mineral deficient soil, old age, disease states, orthomolecular psychology, poor understanding of nutrition by the public, history of nutritional disease (pellagra, beriberi, rickets, microcytic anaemia, megaloblastic anaemia, creationism due to iodine deficiency), bioavibility of nutrients, special religious diets and similar diets (Hindu, Buddhist, Seventh Day Adventists, Muslims, vegans, and vegetarians for instance), gender differences in need, special concerns for infants and children, the effects of heavy metals and other poisons on nutritional needs, etc. 69.72.254.10 05:49, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] updates
Hello, I am new to Wikibooks and will be on here quite often from now on. I am currently a registered dietitian and will be contributing to this Nutrition page quite extensively. My plan is to create an on-line textbook similar to the printed books I used in college. I will also be adding recent research articles and, if people would like, tips for dieting, exercise, diabetes, and any other topics people would like to speak with a dietitian about. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mdahlheim (talk • contribs) 16:43, 2 Dec 2006 (UTC)
