[edit] Is a travel book suitable for Wikibooks?
Hi everyone. Is this a suitable book? I've just started with some info on getting to the city (airports, rail links etc.) The image on the title page was on Wikipedia, but was marked as GDFL so I hope it's OK to put it here. Charlie123 15:19, 26 May 2005 (UTC)
- I think travel guides are at least as suitable as the Jokebook. Just to give you a bit of extra exposure, I linked to this book from the Wikipedia articles w:London and w:South Kensington. Oh, using a GFDL image from Wikipedia is accecptable, provided you attributed it to the proper author, and having a link back to its location in Wikipedia is nice too. An image from Wikimedia Commons is even easier to use. ;). Gentgeen 20:15, 28 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Controversy
This is just crap, really. "This Wikibook tells you about some of the best sights and things to do in London, England." lol "London, England" like it's in Alabama or something! ""Big Ben" is the tower with the clock at the right of the building" err no that's crap. at least get your facts right —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 81.153.154.60 (talk • contribs) 15:55, 5 Jul 2005 (UTC)
- Fair enough, it's the bell in the tower. There are other Londons in the world, and as many U.S. citizens seem to have a difficulty with European geography I thought I'd include the "England" to clear this up. And you should get a user account and sign with that instead of hiding behind an IP address. Coward. Charlie123 7 July 2005 14:24 (UTC)

- U.S. citizens have a difficulty with European geography because the majority of that country is seriously ignorant and has barely even looked at a map of the world. These people aren't welcome in Europe. Is there any doubt that this wikibook is talking about the London in England?? And you should use your real name instead of hiding behind a silly pseudonym. - No need to get offensive. While there are a lot of problems with the US of A it has some good elements too. However the US is the country which currently causes the most environmental damage, and George W. Bush is a threat to the world. Charlie123 8 July 2005 09:03 (UTC)

- In addition, if something is wrong, shouldn't you then edit the page to make it correct? That's what the whole wiki thing is about. Harrasing people to 'get their facts straight' is nonsense on a wiki. It's not like this is a fixed print publication, with a single author who is wholly responsible for factual errors. If something is wrong, then change it! Abc123. —The preceding signed but undated comment was added at 17:18, 12 July 2005 (UTC)
[edit] The image
I've replaced the old image, which looked a bit gloomy and had little colour, with this new one from the (Wikimedia) Commons :-). This image is mroe suitable because it shows both the old (the Palace) and the new (Eye) elements of London, as well as the river. Charlie123 8 July 2005 13:00 (UTC)
