[edit] Relocating some IRC guides

I had written a few guides to for using IRC, the most complete being a downloading guide, I was wondering which of them would be acceptable to relocate them here? I don't mind giving them up for public use and/or editing, right one is sitting in my sandbox here. --Tehdrago (talk) 10:42, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

You can probably attempt to merge the guide's useful information on this page or just start a new book, like "Using IRC" or something on those lines... --Panic (talk) 18:19, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
I considered a merge, but that would have involved completely rewriting the contents as the module here was more of a descriptive overview and my guide was a how-to. I decided to create a new book for now: Downloading Files from IRC. --Tehdrago (talk) 23:46, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Inaccurate and one-sided

The article displays just *one* services implementation (and they differ on some networks a lot) and talks about client-side commands like "/clear" or "/clearall" as if they would be standardized IRC commands (which they are not) and available in every client (which they probably also aren't). I also think that it is wrong to call a command "/join" as the command itself is just "JOIN" and the slash indicates sending it directly to a server. Therefore, the commands should probably be listed without the slash and a small section above the command list should explain how to use them in most common clients (by putting / or sometimes /quote in front of it). I now attempted to do this for the basic command section while not changing it too much. I still think the "Registering your nickname" section needs to be redone though. Yarcanox (talk) 06:38, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
