World Vector Shoreline (+?) data [1], overlaid with selected ecological data from here. Explain how to manipulate data (depending on user experience/interest/age group). Add an overview of world forest cover (anyone know where it can be freely downloaded?) (Teacher can set a task to examine how forest cover can impact specific or general species.
