[edit] power supply

What is the point of the "Power Supply" section?

  • I wouldn't build the supply described there if I were buying a PIC programmer, since it would already come with the appropriate power supply built in.
  • I wouldn't build the supply described there if I were building my own PIC programmer. Each one of the over a dozen complete "build your own PIC programmer" projects has complete instructions for building its own power supply. Most of those power supplies are very different and incompatible with the one currently described in the "power supply" section.

[edit] UV-erasable and OTP PICmicros

As far as I can tell, *all* of the UV-erasable and OTP PICmicros (PIC12C, PIC16C, PIC17C, PIC18C) are no longer recommended for new designs. I fail to see the point of long discussions of the details of some obsolete chip before getting to the "good stuff" describing some chip that might actually be useful.

I'm going to strikethrough (strikethrough) all mention of such chips for now. Should I simply delete all all mentions of such chips, or is there something about these chips important enough to mention in the "history" section? --DavidCary (talk) 15:26, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
