I wonder whether some discussion of the narrower, classical definition of ecology (the study of populations of organisms and their interactions - so generational studies, island theory, predation and competition etc) would be in order?Peri Coleman (talk) 23:25, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

The first paragraph here is plain hard to read. The first sentance alone is downright confusing. I've been put off so much that I'm not even going to continue reading. This page, and probably the book for that matter, needs some major editing.
