[edit] Rename Project
The project Basic Dog Training, which seems quite stalled, should be renamed to Positive Only Basic Dog Training. It advocates a specific point of view, that of Positive Trainers. Wiki guidelines specify a NEUTRAL, unbiased POV. For a title such as BASIC dog training, it clearly contradicts the guidelines.
[edit] Move and NPOV
I have merged this article into the main dog care book. However, it was previously a separate book advocating positive dog training, so a section on punishing dogs needs to be introduced. PCU123456789 (talk) 20:13, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
- Modern Behaviorists and behavior based trainers greatly dispute the meaning and need for punishment. Recent studies indicate that for basic family pets, Positive Reinforcement training is superior to other kinds of punishment based training, due to the fewer negative side effects.

- That is fine, but unless Positive Only Training is a consensus, Punishment should be covered for the sake of NPOV. The reader should then be provided with information to decide for himself/herself which approach to take. Anyway, I'd feel better if people are punishing animals in a "proper" way instead of deciding for themselves how to do it. 189.34.39.153 (talk) 13:54, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
