Talk:Computers for Beginners/Programming
From Wikibooks, the open-content textbooks collection
Yes, I know this a very rudimentary and incomplete entry, but it's better than when there was nothing there, and it provides a good foundation for future editors.
[edit] This is too general, and too long..
For a book that includes a section on "moving the mouse", I think the discussion of assembly is a bit involved.
It'd be nice to start with programming opportunities built into XP, such as scripting or application languages. Show a few basic things that can be done, then talk about more advanced languages and give step-by-step getting started guides.
If I knew the first thing about modern programming, I'd write this section, but the last thing I programmed was a Commodore 64.
[edit] bad title
as it stands, this artical is poorly misnamed. it mentions no Windows XP whatsoever, and focuses entirely on differences between high and low level languages. we should either rename this artical "General Programming for beginniners", or change focus immediately to WinXP programming (in C/Win32API, C++/MFC or VB). --Whiteknight 16:44, 30 August 2005 (UTC)
