Whatever you do, DON"T buy a dell computer!!!!

No mention of mac vs windows? I know this can become a heated debate, but it couldn't be too hard to wrie a fairly neutral, objective paragraph explaining the advantages and disadvantages of each, and link to a different wikibook for beginner mac users. For anyone who wants to do a lot of gaming, social networking, chatting, surfing, emailing, or people who know they will want to exchange files with other people probably should use windows simply because it is the de facto standard. but for the retired, half-blind widow who wants to scan pictures of her grandchildren, edit them and print them out, she will be much happier with a mac. Peripheral devices are infinitely easier to set up and use on the mac, and macs are also good for multimedia applications. Also Mac hardware is becoming a much less inhibiting with the Intel processors and the growth in virtualization.

You can take my words and put them into the article if you want. I just haven't done it myself because I don't know much about wiki editing.
