Talk:Chinese (Mandarin)/Pronunciation of Initials
From Wikibooks, the open-content textbooks collection
It would be extremely useful if this page listed at least one chinese word for each initial described here along with a recording of a native speaker speaking it. While it is nice to have a description of the sounds, nothing can replace actually hearing it. --128.179.67.72 07:29, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
- I'm trying to recruit a native speaker to provide these samples. But for now, if you go to Lesson 1 there are recordings of the new vocabulary words, so you should be able to start off pretty well even without looking through the pronunciation section.

If you need to find samples, go to the wikipedia page on the IPA representation of the sound and there will be a proper sound sample which you will be able to upload here. Jocke pirat (talk) 17:14, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] clear of the tongue tip
"clear of the tongue tip" is a little vague to me, what specifically is meant by the tongue tip and how do i clear it?

[edit] Alternate "c" pronunciation?
There's a site with a handy pronunciation table, apparently of all the standard Mandarin syllables [1] ... but all the syllables beginning "c" are pronounced (to my untrained ear) just like those beginning "k", but with longer vowel sounds afterward. Can someone explain? 70.15.114.2 (talk) 05:44, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
