[edit] Minor Piece Endgames
The module's section on minor piece endgames is incorrect in holding that mate cannot be forced in the ending KBN vs. K. This can in fact be done fairly easily; the technique is known to most class A players. In no starting position does the mate require an extension of the 50-move rule to execute, in contrast with challenging endings like KNN vs. KP (for which mate can be forced in some starting positions). You're right, sorry. Does anyone know if chess puzzles and their solutions can be copyrighted? The exact presentation can be copyrighted, but the puzzle itself would seem to be in the public domain. Maybe we could add a section on edgame puzzles and famous endgame studies.--Tm chk 16:22, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
Can we remove the cleanup mark on this section? I addressed the above comment, and I believe that there are a lot fewer spelling errors after my extensive edits. There is plenty of room for additions, but I think what is here is fairly solid. --Bill Alexander 06:38, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Rook Endgames
Hi. Wikipedia has a sweet article on rook and pawn vs rook[1]. I am totally new to wiki, so I thought I would ask here first if it was OK if I copied the wikipedia article into the Rook Endgames section (or at some parts of it). It has Lucena, Phildor, and lots of other good stuff.
The article might be too long or too advanced though. Anyway, Phildor & Lucena are basically the 2 definitive rook endgame positions. If anything is going to be put in this section, at least these two positions probably deserve a place. --Just Joe 07:57, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
