There is a reference to Mitochondria being responsible for respiration-is this correct?

I can only find references that mention protein generation. However I am unable to find any reference to respiration.

I have since modified it to read that it is responsible for metabolism within the cell. --Xrayman 03:43, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

Are we sure we want a "day in the life of a cell" section? Out of place. I'm going to delete it unless someone objects.
