Talk:Blender 3D: Noob to Pro/Hot Keys
From Wikibooks, the open-content textbooks collection
I'd like to see some more detailed information for most of these keyboard shortcuts. -Spiderworm 15:34, 1 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Me too. Also difference between Shortcuts in Edit and Object mode.--Popski 08:33, 16 Apr 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Blender 2.36 HotKeys
Ok, I converted this Hotkeys from official Blender PDF file. Please use official Hotkeys names in your articles! --Popski 14:21, 3 May 2005 (UTC)
[edit] The name of this page
Shouldn't it be "Modeling Hot Keys"? To distinguish between modeling hot keys and other hot keys? --Spiderworm 20:21, 3 May 2005 (UTC)
- What do you mean? This HotKeys aren't just about modeling. --Popski 09:35, 6 May 2005 (UTC)

- Hmmm... good point. I figured we'd have a hotkeys page for modeling, and separate pages for hotkeys for other things, such as animation, etc. If we're going to have one master page for hotkeys, it should be moved out of the modeling section. Having a page full of hotkeys that are not specific to modeling should not be in the modeling section. But here's another thought. Maybe we don't do the hotkeys page at all, because I have planned (though I've done nothing about it yet) to create a keyboard shortcuts Blender reference here Blender_3D:_Hotkeys_Reference. We could then link to the appropriate sections of the hotkey book from the noob to pro book for the user to look over. What do you think? --Spiderworm 00:30, 9 May 2005 (UTC)
- Probably is good to have somewhere all collected HotKeys, but if you need specific HotKeys for sections then just make proper link name and copy right part from collected HotKeys... Maybe this collected HotKeys need to be WikiBook on it's own: Blender 3D: Hotkeys. What do you think? --Popski 09:47, 9 May 2005 (UTC)

- I agree, let's create a hotkeys wikibook, either called Blender_3D:_Hotkeys_Reference or Blender 3D: Hotkeys. Lets make sure we link to it via the Blender_3D page. --Spiderworm 18:13, 9 May 2005 (UTC)
- Ok, did it. Blender HotKeys is official Blender name so I have put it under Blender 3D: Hotkeys, now you can cut and move this page, because I don't how you will name it now. --Popski 18:51, 9 May 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Confusing "key" names
Formatting of "keys" is confusing when initially coming to this documentation. RMB = Right mouse button MMB = Left LMB = Middle When you see these in the middle of documentation there is no context to flag them as "keys" and therefore it is confusing. Even on the "keys" page it is initially confusing because the average user isn't going to understand mouse buttons as "keys".
Not as confusing is the inconsistency in documenting letter keys: When a single letter is the "key" it is documented as "LetterKEY". When a combination of keys are pressed its labeled as "Key + Letter".
