[edit] ideas for organization

I'd like to start a discussion about how this book should be organized. Perhaps the organization should be changed, or maybe it should stay the way it currently is. Here's an idea:

Create a page for each shortcut. The URL would be formatted very specifically; for example:

Blender 3D: Hotkeys/Edit Mode/EKEY

Blender 3D: Hotkeys/Vertex Paint Mode/VKEY

Blender 3D: Hotkeys/Object Mode/SHIFT-DKEY

This way there could be very detailed information about each of the shortcuts in the different modes.

Then on the Mode Pages, for example the Edit Mode page, the shortcuts could be listed by function....

Mesh Modeling

  • AKEY - select all

E

  • EKEY - extrude

etc...

It's good idea to explain more detailed information about every HotKey, maybe even with examples or links to tutorial examples, but I think that is also good to have all HotKeys in one place (as it is) and from here links to more detailed explanations as you said Spiderworm. I would like to see here also keyboard drawing with color marked HotKeys large enough that can be printed and used on actual keyboard. --Popski 17:30, 18 May 2005 (UTC)

Check this out. Follow the subpages I've created and take a look at the way these {{templates}} work. We can then embed the same hotkey instructions on any Blender book page anywhere in wikibooks using the {{templates}}. Check it out: http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Blender_3D:_HotKeys/new
