This book arose from a discussion point in the Ecology Wikibook, which pointed to the need for 'conservation management' to be included. I have close contact with university students and land managers, where the need seems to be for a text book on applied ecology that centres on the long-term sustainable management of the outcomes of things like, reclamation of industrial sites, and reintroductions of rare species. This would obviously grow into a big project, with distinctive subject matter, so I decided to start it as a separate book. It is at a very early stage, and I must say I miss the availability of integral Wiki software for making mind maps. Its not so easy to reorganise what are essentially provisional basic topics, but 'there you go'--Denis Bellamy 07:54, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
The contents page looks a bit strange, but I have followed the current Wiki naming policy for new books. For each new page this means giving it a name that includes its parent pages, all the way back to the book name. If this is done for a new page (module), a blank page will automatically appear, and it will also be automatically linked back to previous pages.--Denis Bellamy 11:24, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned Modules
I'm going through the list of orphaned pages and there are four pages there apparently belonging to this book, but not linked from anywhere. Not being familiar with the subject, placing these modules correctly in the context of this project is probably not a task I should perform, but I will list the pages here so that the contributors to this book can find a suitable place for them.
