This article states that afrikaans is a european language. This does not follow the rules of the no point of view policy, since many people consider afrikaans to be an indigenous african language. It is simply a matter of opinion.--100%RSA 14:09, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

- Let me join this debate, the reason is that Afrikaans is a Indo-European language, and also it almost be identifical to Dutch, which they are colonized the South Africa before the Boer War (I think I'm wrong but I'm not sure...). Rakuten06 23:25, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
Germanic languages are European. Afrikaans is classified as Germanic. Look up Afrikaans on http://www.ethnologue.com, http://www.omniglot.com and http://www.nvtc.gov. Saying that Afrikaans' status as a European language is "a matter of opinion" is somewhat absurd. Even the English Wikipedia article on Afrikaans classifies the language as European. It may be reasonably argued that Afrikaans is both European in nature and indigenous to Africa, a point which is addressed in the book. Delano 05:26, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

Why did User:Rakuten06 creat lessons 2 to 4 and just stuff the pages with phrases lifted from various sources on the 'net? Please, this is NOT a phrase book! The point is to provide a source for people to learn to read, write, speak and understand Afrikaans; in other words, a complete language course. What's the point of simply repeating things found elsewhere on the 'net? Also, if you're going to create lessons, please follow the format of the previous lessons... you've just pasted text with little regard for formatting or readability.
