Finnish Text[edit | edit source]

Suomen ja Venäjän rajalla on paljon jonoja. Jonojen syy on uusi autositoumusmaksu. Venäjän tulli alkoi torstaina ottaa Kaakkois-Suomen rajanylityspaikoilla 100 ruplaa eli noin kolme euroa autositoumusmaksua. Tulli sanoo, että venäjän verohallinto haluaa maksun. Maksu koskee kaikkia, jotka eivät ole Venäjän kansalaisia. Venäjän rajanylityspaikoilla on jonoja, koska ajoneuvomaksun maksaminen kestää jokaisen auton kohdalla 15 - 30 minuuttia. Jonoja on syntynyt molemmilla puolilla rajaa. Suomen puolella jono on pitkä Imatralla. Vaalimaan raja-asemalla Venäjän puolella autot jonottavat Suomeen pääsyä 6 - 8 tuntia. Autositoumusmaksu täytyy maksaa henkilö- ja linja-autoista. Yhdellä autositoumusmaksulla saa ajaa auton Venäjälle ja takaisin Suomeen yhden kerran. Autositoumusmaksun tarkoitus on, että auto tulee Venäjältä takaisin Suomeen.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  2. Note that the partitive plural subject governs a verb in the singular: jonoja on syntynyt - queues have developed.
  3. Autot: the nominative here rather than the partitive plural refers to some definite or previously mentioned cars: hence the definite article the in the English translation. The nominative plural as expected governs a plural verb: autot jonottavat - the cars queue.
  4. More literally At the Vaalimaa border crossing on the Russian side...
  5. This, as the direct object of maksaa, would normally be in the accusative but here it is in the nominative because täytyy governs maksaa.
  6. This is a third person singular verb with no subject. It is therefore impersonal and is translated as one may
