A RPG, or a w:Role-playing game is a very hard genre to work in. You must pay close amount of attention to the battle system, story, exploring, and skill levels.

[edit] Story

The story is one of the most important elements to a RPG. It must contain all the story elements of a book.

Introduction: The introduction can be difficult at first. DO NOT START WITH "Every thousand years..." OR "A thousand years ago..". This gives the player a head start on what is going on. You want to surprise the player with twists. Prophecies are also a bad idea, unless they mean something other than what the character thinks.
