To add a printer

Concept from: http://puredyne.466513.n3.nabble.com/puredyne-printer-td694728.html

Use Synaptic to install "system-config-printer-gnome" (and related files). When it's done installing, System>>Printers will be added to the menu system.

Click it, and when the GUI appears, click the first menu item at the top, then select 'add printer'. Follow the screens.

This worked to autodetect my USB-connected Canon printer.
