Power System Components

Branch Circuits

There are several parts to a branch circuit. The first part, called the "electrical load" or just "load" is the equipment that is designed to convert electrical energy into another form of energy such as light (light bulbs), heat (electric heaters, toasters) or mechanical motion (motors) or store the electricity in the form of magnetic or electric energy.

Power is composed of two components: active and reactive power.
