[edit] Playing A Computer Game

Playing A Computer Game is easy, but for some people, it can be hard. Whether you're wanting to beat your best friend at a game, or just want to become better at playing games, you have come to the right wikibook. Simply read on, and you'll find all about playing a computer/video game. First, Let's run through some essentials.

[edit] The Essentials For A PC/MAC game

You might not think there are essentials to playing a computer game, but there are. First of, you need to make sure your computer has the speed and required components to run the game. Not having a video card that meets the minimum requirements can adversely effect your game experience by distorting the image. Having the wrong sound card lowers the sound quality making the sound jump and run slow and sound demented. You'll also need the right operating system. You'll also need a means of measuring how long you have been playing. I recommend taking a 15 minute break every hour or 2. Another thing you need on your computer is the right amount of free hard drive space and RAM.

One of the biggest essentials outside of requirements and other stuff is: UNDERSTANDING THE GAME. Having a game that you keep losing on or dying isn't a great feeling. Always have the Instruction Manual or your cheat sheet next to you, so if you need help you just look over and see.

[edit] The Essentials For A Console Game

The essentials on a console is the right console. Having a PS3 game, but owning a Nintendo Wii isn't going to help at all. also make sure that if you're playing on a console with no way of saving data to an internal data place or anything like that, that you have the memory device needed (Like The Memory Card For a Playstation). Also Make sure your controller/remote feels comfortable in your hands, and that it's not too small or big. All buttons on the controller should be in reach of the hand you use to touch the buttons. If its your first time playing on a console, you may notice that you have to take your eyes off the screen and look at the controller to see what button to press; or your controller feels weird in your hands. This is usual, but as you play more often you will soon not need to take your eyes of the screen, and you will automatically know where the buttons are, without the controller in your head or anything. You'll also have to have a TV with the right components. If your TV Doesn't have any AV plugs (Yellow, Red and White Holes) then you should buy a more up to date television. You'll also need to have a second power point, as many consoles need these to be played. Make sure you have read the console AND Game instruction manual thoroughly, as you will need to know everything.

[edit] Health Related Issues

There are some health related issues to keep in mind while playing a game. The primary one is sore fingers, which can and will happen if you play too long. Many suggest taking a fifteen minute to a half-an-hour break from playing every hour or two. Trauma - Some games have been known to give people seizures, and you should not play games if you are photosensitive.
