In mammals, ovum is made by the ovaries. All mammals upon birth, already have immature oocytes stored in ovaries. The amount of oocytes will not increase after birth. Ovum and sperms combine, ovum became fertilized by sperms and became zygote, for which a new life begins. Some animals, for example birds undergo internal insemination, whilst other animals for example a majority of fishes, and amphibians, undergo external insemination.
