There are two basic origami folds, also known as pureland origami:

• Valley Fold

• Mountain Fold

Examples:

• Book Fold

• Pleat

• Radial Pleat

• Cupboard Fold

• Kite Fold

• Blintz Fold

Level two folds require simultaneous valley and mountain folds:

• Inside Reverse Fold

• Outside Reverse Fold

• Squash Fold

Examples:

• Waterbomb Base

• Preliminary Fold

Level three folds require combination of the above folds:

• Petal Fold

• Crimp

• Rabbit Ear

Level four folds are advanced applications of the above folds:

• Open Sink

• Closed Sink

• Twist Fold
