The social classes described in 1984. Most people in this society are Proles, who Winston places his hope in.

Winston is again writing in his diary. This time, he states that if hope exists, it exists in the Proles, who are not indoctrinated and compose the majority of Oceania. Winston broods about the definition of truth, and whether truth means anything if one can't prove it. Only once he held definitive evidence that the Party was lying about the past. In the end, he decides there is an objective truth that can be found.
