A great resource for filmmakers in western Pennsylvania is Pittsburgh Filmmakers. Filmmakers (as it is often referred to locally) offers for-credit classes through local colleges and universities such as Point Park University, the University of Pittsburgh, and Carnegie Mellon University as well as certificate programs and non-credit courses. They also have membership plans for filmmakers, photographers, and community members who are not taking classes. Filmmakers has an in-house equipment office, editing suites, darkrooms, two screening rooms, and a sound stage.
