Just like in English, the Jumieka language has several words for mother and father. Starting with the words for mother, we see:

  • Mouma

And sometimes:

  • Mahda

The most common word for father is:

  • Pupa

But occasionally

  • Fahda

is used.

The words for Siebling (siblings) are for brother:

  • Bror
  • Broda

and for sister:

  • Siesta

In Danish, the words for son and daughter are close to English. They are søn and dauta, respectively.

  • Onkel = Uncle
  • Ante = Aunt
  • Niece = Niece
  • Nevyu = Nephew
  • Kusine = Cousin
  • Grandmahda = Grandmother
  • Grandfahda = Grandfather


The Jumieka word for grandchild is grandpikni.

  • Great-grandfahda/Great-grandpupa = Great-grandfather
  • Great-grandmahdar/Great-grandmouma = Great-grandmother

The Danish word for great-grandchild is Great-grandpikni
