Macao [edit]
- Macao is a small, former Portuguese colony (six square miles) located on an island off the southwest coast of China. Although a twin to Hong Kong in both geographical and political relations to the rest of China (a special administration region), it is far smaller in size and economic strength.
- Postage meters were first introduced in 1973.
- All stamps have “MACAU” in the frank.
- The stamps are grouped according to appearance:

PO1. Unidentified (digital), 2000 or earlier.
- Wide self-adhesive tape with rounded corners.
- Underprint of post rider and "CTT CORREIOS" in rose-red repeated across the top.
- Stamp used only for registered mail.
- Large barcode runs through the middle of the stamp.
- "R" and registration number above “MACAU" at top left.
- Machine number with "EMP" prefix above date and post office identification at top center.
- Value figures in both escudos and euros at top right.
