  • The first meter was installed in 1941.
  • All stamps have “IRAQ” or “REPUBLIC OF IRAQ” in the frank.



1. Universal “Multi-Value” (MV), 1941. [$50]

Post Office stamp. Upright frank with simulated perforation border and straight line inner border.
Inner panels at sides containing vertical “POSTAGE” at left and Arabic text at right.
“FILS” below value figures.
M# and “U” prefix in boxes in lower corners
Only one machine, U1, known.

Same general form as with Type 1 but larger.
