Bahrain[edit | edit source]

The first meter stamps appeared in 1950. All franks contain “BAHRAIN” The stamps are grouped according to appearance:

A - simulated-perforation outer border
B - straight-line outer border
PO - stamps generated only by machines in post offices



GROUP A: Franks with simulated perforation outer border[edit | edit source]


A1. Neopost (LV-6), 1950.
Frank is upright rectangle with double-line outer frame line.
Post horn directly below “BAHRAIN” at top. “POSTAGE PAID” in scroll at center.
Value in panel at bottom. M# “N1” in bottom of TM.
TM: BIC
Two machines existed with M# N1, one denominated in Annas and one in Rupees.

Nearly square frank with small openings in the center of the sides.
Above the value figures is the postal logo containing "BAHRAIN POST".
Below the value figures are the date and meter number with "BH5" prefix.
Small square 2D bar code at far left below "Kingdom of / Bahrain".
Various alpha-numeric codes of undetermined nature between the bar code and frank.

GROUP PO: Franks generated only by machines in Post Offices[edit | edit source]


PO1. Zebra "S4M” (digital).
This stamp is identical to United Arab Emirates Type PO1 except for the value figures.
It is a label for registered mail but it includes the postage amount as well as the registration information.
Covers found with this label have no other postage indicators and so it is also a postage stamp.
Below the bar code are two lines of text:
  •   First line: registration number, date, value figures
  •   Second line: destination, origin, weight
