[edit] Preamble
In some parts of the world, the college degree functions as the new high school diploma. It is no longer special to attain, and it is now simply a prerequisite to having more education and experience. This book is about how to make the most out of the college experience as well as getting the college diploma in order to prepare the student for the next step, whether that is a career or graduate school.
To properly understand and use this book, it is assumed that you live in the United States, have a high school diploma or GED; and you are attending, or want to attend, a two-year or four-year college or university.
This book is written for both traditional students right out of high school as well as non-traditional students who are returning to school after some years of absence. Ideally, it shouldn't matter if you are going to a public school or a private school to glean wisdom from this book, as the author(s) have a wide variety of college experiences. The goal for this book is to become an excellent text for students across America.
[edit] Table of Chapters
After each chapter, there is an image with a subjective indication of how complete that chapter is:
means that there is only an outline of a chapter or no chapter at all.
means that there is little information or the information there may not be reliable.
means that there is some information, but it's not very detailed or extensive.
means that much of the information is there, but it needs to be touched up or organised. This is still usable.
means that the information is basically complete. However, more detail can always be added.
[edit] Why a wikibook on how to succeed in college?
Books are expensive. Money is tight. A wikibook is ideal for people who want to search for what they want, or they can add material if it is not already there. It is also important to note that college survival textbooks exist in freshman orientation classes -- so yes, this does qualify as a textbook.
