Booker Stephen Carpenter, II


Booker Stephen Carpenter, II (born April 27, 1965) is an American artist and art education specialist with a plethora of experience, wisdom, and achievements.


BIOGRAPHY

Carpenter obtained a Bachelor of Fine Art in Visual Art at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania in 1987. He went on to receive a Masters of Education in Art Education at The Pennsylvania State University in 1989. Additionally, he received at PH.D in Art Education at The Pennsylvania University. His Thesis title was: A Meta-critical Analysis of Ceramics Criticism for Art Education: Toward an Interpretive Methodology.

Carpenter has spoken at a variety of professional workshops and events, both internationally and regionally. Carpenter is both a co-author and an author of an assortment of book chapters, journal articles, books, and essays on topics such as art education, ceramics criticism, visual culture, etc. Currently, Carpenter operates as Associate Professor of Art Education and Visual Culture at Texas A & M University.

While serving at ODU, Carpenter’s most momentous recollection was the opening of the ODU Art Gallery on 21st Street.
