[edit] Why should I expect Wikibooks to succeed?

If a text book is by popular definition a book you only read because it is required, why should Wikibooks garner sufficient reader/editor interest to succeed? People want to know how to size the pipes in their sprinkler system, not learn about fluid mechanics or hydraulics engineering. They want to figure how much they have to save to retire at age 50, not learn about mathematics. But Wikibooks needs reader-editors to succeed. So why should I expect it to succeed?

I've been searching around to no avail, so I'll just breakdown and throw this out there. Whats the policy on importing work from Wikipedia into Wikibooks? Are there any special steps that need to be considered? RichMac 03:59, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
