[edit] About
Each of us has learned things over the years that we wish we knew when we were younger. Whether it be learning to deal with bullies, interacting with others better, doing well in school, tips for managing unwieldy hair, the importance of working towards a career that offers long term stability, dealing with relationships, coping with traumatic events, procedures for working out, or hundreds of other things that would have helped us get the most out of our youth. The goal of this book is to collect these lessons, offer prescriptions and avoidance tactics to life's problems, and to console others in their moments of awkwardness.
So in essence, this book is about growth, not just into adulthood, but into becoming the kind of man (or woman) that you want to be. We live in a world where medicine and information helps us understand and address most areas in which we feel deficient. The onus is upon us simply to identify the things about us which we wish to improve, and to do the work - either through research or by talking to our physicians - to improve upon these areas. Thus far, viewers have contributed various experiences that are encompassed by the five general modules into which this book is organized. More modules may be added by readers as needed.
The first module is meant to give an overview into understanding people and why they do the things they do. This not only helps us understand people that we have trobule getting along with, it helps us understand ourselves as well. It also provides several life strategies, emphasized in both Eastern and Western philosophies and psychologies that help us lead happier, more fulfilling lives. The second module helps us identify and deal with substantial psychological problems that won't be solved with the holistic life strategies in the first module. The third module offers various tips and general guidance into improving broad general health and physical well being. The fifth module covers those areas of physical appearance and presence not completely tied to physical health, such as grooming, cleanliness, style, creating the illusion of self confidence that give off a postive presence to others. And the fourth module is tied to those areas not that deal with the underlying reasons why we lack confidence thus so often forced to create the illusion of confidence. In it, we find and address ways to compensate for common deficiencies that limit us physically, mentally, emotionally or socially that can't be easily fixed with modern medicine and a healthy lifestyle. Many of the mental, social and emotional problems will often overlap with issues covered in the first module, but will be delved into deeper.
