Phorcys is depicted in the middle of this Roman mosaic.

Phorcys was a primeval Greek Sea god. He was said to be the son of Pontus and Gaia. His wife was Ceto, and it was said that all the children they had were monsters. Their children were known as the Phorcydes which included the Gorgons and Scylla. Phorcys is depicted as a fish-tailed Merman.
