Astrobiology is the branch of biology concerned with the nature of life forms beyond Earth. It is also called exobiology and space biology. No extraterrestrial life forms have yet been identified, however, in recent years, life forms have been found on Earth in extreme environments where they were not expected, giving rise to further hopes and speculation that life may someday be found beyond our biosphere.
