The Big Dipper is a asterism in the northern skies, close to the north celestial pole.

It has seven stars, and resembles a Big Dipper, or a pan once used to draw water from a well. Other names for the Big Dipper include "Charles' Wain".

The Big Dipper is part of the constellation Ursa Major.
