Get Peace of Mind
From Wikibooks, the open-content textbooks collection
A man who wanted things like health, love, talent, riches, good looks, and faith saw a mountain with it’s peak above the clouds. He climbed to the top of the mountain and asked what he should want. The old man responded, “As you climb back down the mountain consider this Bible quote: Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”[1]

[edit] Enjoy the “now.”
The past is past. The future is a maybe you can influence then. Some parents brought their little boy on a trip to the top of a mountain. There, the wise man of the park said to the little boy, “What are your plans?” After the child answered, the old man told some of his adventures then said, “Every moment could be a memory, so always try to enjoy the “now.”[2]
[edit] Say, “it’s only”
For example, it’s only messy hair, or it’s only a run in the stocking. Don’t let it bother you. It doesn’t matter. A year from now it should be forgotten. It’s only a tiny part of twelve months; a smaller part of five years.[3]
[edit] Pay attention
Thinking about one thing at a time helps prevent trouble and anxiety. For example if your trying to drive your car and dial you mobile phone at the same time, you might dial the wrong number several times in a row. Thinking about too many things at once could result in wondering where the cookie you were going to eat went. Such stress is avoided by thinking about one thing at a time.[4]
[edit] Enjoy life.
Working too hard causes stress. Take enough time for recreation, relaxation and education. When at work, if you consider yourself to be helping others that reduces stress. The same applys when spending money just for fun. For fun, an old rich man once bought an expensive new car to be burried in.[5]
[edit] Keep a clean room
Imagine the peacefulness of a clean room, then keep it that way. Imagine the healthiness of a clean body and a clean mind; then keep them that way. Imagine a good sense of humor. With God’s help, you can occasionally read a tragedy such as the Gospel of John without getting depressed or upset.[6]
[edit] Make peace with forever
For example, some statements in the Bible and elsewhere don’t make sense, and they are going to stay that way. If someone misspoke, they did. A pope once said something like, “I want one thing: 1. to know myself and 2. to love God.” So, make peace with eternity.[7]
[edit] Try for forgiveness
The habit of forgiveness helps achieve inner peace, and the habit of of immediately seeking forgiveness helps achieve outer peace. The Christian religion recommends trying for a climate of forgiveness and love. So, going to church on Sunday should help cause peace of mind. Getting enough sleep should be done at home. Since Christianity began, God’s religion is for free, although churches do accept donations.[8]
