Dumping Navigation Impediments, O.C.G.A. §§ 52-8-1 to 5

Summary of the Act[edit | edit source]

This Chapter makes it a crime to dump stone, gravel, or other ballast from a boat into the water within three miles of a harbor. The owner of the boat will be fined and could serve jail time. There is a reward for any person who reports dumping to the Board of Pilotage Commissioners. Municipalities have the authority to place additional restrictions on the dumping of any items that could be dangerous to other boats or that could reduce the depth of the navigable water.
