Nutrient Processing[edit | edit source]

Chapter 5 covers in anatomy of nutrition, specifically the gastrointestinal tract and associated organs. Information learned earlier regarding macronutrient digestion and absorption will be explained in greater detail. Students will gain a full understanding of what needs to occur for food to be processed to function in the body. In addition, diseases and disorders of the gastrointestinal tract are explained, particularly in regard to their impact on total health.
