Summary

Description
English: Stud type battery post meltdown. As case was intact this was repairable at a specialized battery dealer. Initial cause was nut becoming stuck to the stud. When a removal was attempted the head of the stud (only a simple hex head bolt rather than a proper T or L head) turned within the lead. Could be neither removed nor properly tighted and eventually melted down. This type of cable mount is not recommended, even though it allows the use of cheaper welding-style terminations on the cable. The alternative is to use a tapered post mount which accepts a tapered clamp-type cable termination and which offers far more conductive surface. Image by en:User:Leonard G.
