Cellsize.jpg(310 × 199 pixels, file size: 51 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg)

Image of cell with size scale from wikibook Cell Biology textbook (licensed under the GFDL): http://wikibooks.org/wiki/Image:Cellsize.jpg

Description from original page:

Microscopy of cells with size scale.
P19 mouse embryonal carcinoma cells were fixed with methanol and stained using an antibody that specifically binds the protein α-catenin. The α-catenin protein is concentrated at the cell surface where it functions to anchor cell surface cadherin cell adhesion proteins to the intracellular cytoskeleton. The locations of α-catenin proteins were visualized by scanning laser confocal microscopy. These are average size animal cells.
