History isn’t all about facts, figures and dates.

History covers a lot more than you imagine. If you’re good at history, you’re good at thinking, and analysing and weighing the odds. This sort of thinking is enquiry skills.

Over the course of this book, you will look at different sources, and see the different techniques you can use to value them. At the end, you will be able to look at a text from 150 years ago, or a painting of a historical event painted at the time, and you will be able to look between the lines and deeper into the artwork and be able to find out more about history from history itself. History isn’t about having facts told to you, it’s about finding the facts yourself.

History is now prepared to unveil its true nature before you.
