Every subject in a sentence must have a verb. There are two types of verb in English:

  • Active verbs
  • Stative verbs

play, give, take, do, make, sing, sit, stand, eat, drink, sleep, walk, go

Examples of Stative Verbs[edit | edit source]

be, like, hate, enjoy, see, want, love
