When storing batteries, remember to refrigerate the batteries to stretch their shelf life. All batteries have some rate of self-discharge.

When using a nickel-cadmium battery, remember to discharge the battery to "empty" before recharging it to "full" since the so-called memory effect occurs if you recharge the battery after discharging only "partially".
