Policies and Procedures

Introduction

All assignments will be due on the dates designated on the course calendar. There is a two-day extension for each assignment, but you will receive a letter-grade cut for each of those days.

First day late maximum grade = 90, Second day late maximum grade = 80.

After the extension date, I will not accept your assignment. I also don’t want them early. I understand the need to work ahead for some individuals and I encourage that where appropriate. You need to archive your work and submit your assignments on the due date.

Additional information

Evaluation and Grading Each module consists of some combination of assignments, worksheets, discussions and reviews, each having specific point values designated in the table below. For each assignment you will be given the rubric or grading criteria from which you will be evaluated. This graphic contains the assignments, the point values for each assignment, and the due date for each assignment. The calendar information is also on the web.

Goals

Upon completion of the general preparation component of their program, prospective teachers will have a broad understanding of how they and their students should be using technology in and out of the classroom, as listed in the general preparation objectives. The standards against which teachers will measure their understanding are represented in the National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) developed by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE). The Standards for Teachers are listed as objectives in the following section.

Academic Integrity

Academic Integrity (from the student handbook, section on Academic Dishonesty on page 57) http://www.fairmontstate.edu/publications/campushandbooks/FS_StudentHandbook0405.pdf Fairmont State values highly the integrity of its student scholars. All students and faculty members are urged to share in the responsibility for removing every situation which might permit or encourage academic dishonesty. Cheating in any form, including plagiarism, must be considered a matter of the gravest concern. Cheating is defined here as the obtaining of information during an examination; the unauthorized use of books, notes, or other sources of information prior to or during an examination; the removal of faculty examination materials; the alteration of documents or records; or actions identifiable as occurring with the intent to defraud or use under false pretense. Plagiarism is defined here as the submission of the ideas, words (written or oral), or artistic productions of another, falsely represented as one's original effort or without giving due credit. Students and faculty should examine proper citation forms to avoid inadvertent plagiarism.
